National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence: 2006 & 2016
Founded in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' academic achievement. The United States Department of Education recognized Prince of Peace Catholic School as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2006 and 2016.
For the 2020 school year, only 47 private schools in Texas are recognized as a Blue Ribbon School.
To be considered for Blue Ribbon School recognition by the U.S. Department of Education, a school must be nominated by the commissioner of education. Nominated campuses are selected through analysis of student assessment and student demographic data. Non-public schools are recognized as “Exemplary High Performing” if their student achievement in English and mathematics is among the highest in the country (top 15%), measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests. To meet the award qualifications, our students scored in the top 15% on the nationally normed IOWA Assessment Achievement Test.
The Blue Ribbon distinction shows the academic strength of our students, faculty, and staff, but Prince of Peace Catholic School is so much more. We form our students into young men and women who grow up to be servant leaders and influence the world for Christ.
