Prince of Peace Catholic School has been awarded, by the US Department of Education, the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award in 2006 and 2016. The school is one of only fifty private schools in the country to be recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. Our students in every grade (3rd-8th) scored in the top 15% on the nationally normed Iowa Test. The Blue Ribbon Distinction is a great award and shows the academic strength of our students and faculty and staff, but Prince of Peace Catholic School is so much more. We have wonderful opportunities to help our students develop into young men and women who are formed in Catholic faith as servant leaders for our future.
Official Press Release, September 28, 2016
PRINCE OF PEACE CATHOLIC SCHOOL IS NAMED ONE OF THE BEST IN THE NATION
Prince of Peace Catholic School is pleased to announce that at 12:00 p.m., September 28, 2016, the United States Secretary of Education John B. King, Jr. designated Prince of Peace Catholic School as a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Prince of Peace Catholic School is one among 279 public and 50 private schools receiving this honor. Prince of Peace Catholic School is also only 1 of 2 catholic schools in Texas to receive this award and 1 of 9 schools in the DFW Area. In order to qualify as Exemplary High Performing, Prince of Peace Catholic School student achievement in English and Mathematics had to be among the highest in the country (top 15%), measured by nationally normed assessment tests. Phase one was followed by an evaluation of our school community to look at curriculum, best practices, innovations, and partnership. After review, the top 15% were narrowed down to only 50 private schools nationwide.
Prince of Peace Catholic School is honored to be one of those 50 private schools in the nation and the only school in the Diocese of Dallas to be recognized this year. This honor marks the second time that Prince of Peace Catholic School has been recognized as a top academic school in the country with our previous Blue Ribbon designation in 2006.
On November 7, 2016, The United States Department of Education will recognize Prince of Peace Catholic School at a special ceremony in Washington, D.C. We will share this honor with the other 2016 National Blue Ribbon Schools and have an opportunity to participate in professional development and the sharing of best practices to further benefit our Prince of Peace Catholic School community. At this ceremony, we will also receive a flag and a plaque to symbolize our status as a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence!
Prince of Peace Catholic School builds on a tradition of Catholic identity, academic excellence, and the development of each child and their God-given potential, which brings the school’s mission to life. The guiding principle of Prince of Peace Catholic School is that all decisions are based on what is in the best interest of the students. Prince of Peace Catholic School, a parochial school in the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, Texas, educates students from developmental kindergarten through eighth grade, admitting students with a range of academic ability levels and learning styles. The faculty differentiates instruction to ensure success for each student in a nurturing environment.
The generosity of parents’ time, talent, and treasure makes it possible for Prince of Peace Catholic School to provide an exemplary Catholic education rooted in Gospel values. An active and engaged community ensures that Prince of Peace Catholic School maintains its high academic standards, while constantly seeking innovation such as 1:1 technology to enhance learning. Faculty members continually partake in professional development in order to best serve students.
Prince of Peace Catholic School builds catholic identity through Virtue Based Restorative Discipline (VBRD). Prince of Peace Catholic School became a certified VBRD school in 2016. As part of the focus on the Year of Mercy, the school puts forth deliberate effort by students and staff to live a virtuous life. Another focus for the school is connecting the virtues to Catholic Social Teachings.
