Clubs & Organizations
POP Student Ambassadors are an extension of the Office of Admissions. Ambassadors lead prospective family tours, assist at admissions events, and promote a positive and caring culture at POP.
POP Chess Club is open to 2nd-8th graders. We partner with Chess America who provides chess classes (hosted by local chess professionals) across the United States in schools and libraries. Chess club meets after school. Tournaments are held the last few classes of each program. All participants receive trophies or medals or other prizes- no one goes home empty-handed. Chess America provides all chess sets and instructional materials. Visit Chess America for more information.
In scouting, boys and girls start with their best "right-now selves" and grow into their very best "future-selves". Activities and experiences are designed to put kids in the middle of the action and prepare them for today and for life.
Destination Imagination (DI)
The Destination Imagination program fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. Participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. DI is for all ages and capabilities. We are excited to offer teams for Kindergarten-8th grade. To learn more about DI, please visit their website: Destination Imagination.
7th and 8th grade students have a wonderful opportunity to participate in the junior acolyte ministry and serve the entire Prince of Peace Catholic Community.
National Junior Beta Club
National Junior Beta Club is a service-based organization offered to 6th-8th grade students. This organization is another way to demonstrate their dedication to academic excellence, character building, leadership development, and service involvement. For more information, please visit NJBC. Each new member that joins will receive a certificate with a membership card and a pin at the end of the year.
Random Acts of Kindness (RAK)
Random Acts of Kindness is a service-based organization for 6th-8th graders. RAK groups make a difference in the POP community and beyond. In RAK meetings and during projects, students experience the virtues of kindness, compassion, hope, charity, and love.
The POP Safety Patrol Program is an excellent opportunity for our students to be daily examples of the virtues in action. Safety Patrol is open to 5th and 6th grade student volunteers who serve at St. James, Cana Center, or CLC morning carpools.
Speech Team is a diocesan-sponsored activity open to all middle school students. It provides a fun, relaxed environment for students to develop and receive constructive feedback on their presentation and public-speaking skills. Additionally, it helps to build confidence and poise for activities like classroom presentations and future high school interviews.
Elected middle school students make up the POP Student Council. They organize socials for older students and service opportunities. They also lend a hand around the school and in the community.
