STEM Learning

Built in 2017 with contributions from gracious donors, the i3 Lab has earned the loving nickname of “The Cube,” based on the three i’s which stand for integration, innovation, and imagination.

The Cube is used across disciplines in Pre-K through 8th to enhance 21st century skills. This collaborative space is home to a Lego wall,  3-D printer, green screen, flexible seating, and six screens including an interactive screen. All walls and tables are whiteboard surfaces. The "Tinker Tank" is a separate area with craft supplies, makerspace tools, sewing machines, and a variety of materials the students can utilize for their projects. Students come in to work in a project based learning environment as an extension of their curriculum.

What is Project Based Learning?
Project-Based Learning, which is done in our i3 Lab (the Cube), is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge. Makerspaces are places where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore, and discover using tools and materials.

Project-Based Learning and Maker-Based Learning are broadly used for any subject area or content. STEM falls under these two ‘umbrellas’ of pedagogy.
