Random Acts of Kindness (RAK)

Random Acts of Kindness (aka: RAK)  is a service based organization for students in 6-8th grades. RAK is a group that focuses on the students spiritual development and works in conjunction with the goals and values of the school.  In RAK meetings and projects, the students develop the virtues of kindness, compassion, hope, charity and love.
Typically, groups meet monthly. At the meeting, students will each bring $10 and one child is responsible for taking the money and performing a RAK before the next meeting. The student will write a brief explanation of their RAK and share information about their RAK with their group. All RAK hours can be recorded on the POP website under Student Life section (POP Service Student Service Hours Log Form). A parent volunteer must be present at each meeting.

Examples of previous RAKs performed were:

  • Halloween treats for patients (reverse trick or treating)
  • Pumpkin painting (set up a table in a neighborhood park)
  • RAKs for Blaise (activity basket, gift cards for Disney, etc.)
  • Handmade pillows for dialysis patients
  • Bags for the homeless (incl: water bottles, socks, snacks)
  • Busy books for Children’s Hospital
  • Sort Thanksgiving food donations
  • 1M4A (Anna’s closet donations)
  • Operation Kindness
  • Pilots for Christ
