Chess Club

POP Chess Club is for students in grades 2-8.

Chess clubs are typically held after school. Typical school-year programs have a weekly, one-hour class, year round. POP is partnered with Chess America for our Chess Club.

Chess America
is a family run business started in 2007. They teach chess nationwide in schools, chess camps, libraries, and park districts.

Many of the students of Chess America have won or placed high in local, state and national chess tournaments.

Chess America provides chess classes given by local chess professionals across the United States. All instructors undergo thorough background checks, and are screened for their skills as teachers in addition to their chess experience.

Tournaments are held the last few classes of each program, and they are enjoyable for all. All participants get trophies or medals or other prizes- no one goes home empty-handed. No chess equipment is necessary, as Chess America provides all chess sets and instructional materials.

Cost is usually calculated on a per student/per class basis.
