What is Development? The development office provides opportunities for investment in the school. Working with volunteers, the office staff oversees an Annual Fund drive and the Heart and Soul Gala and Auction. The funds, raised through these two programs, help fill the gap between what is paid in tuition and the actual cost of operating the school. These funds help keep tuition at a more affordable level, allowing a more diverse group of community members access to quality education within a Catholic environment. In addition, the development office staff is responsible for researching and writing grant proposals to bring in financial support from private foundations for new and existing academic programs, teacher professional development and new technology for the classrooms. Prince of Peace is grateful to an anonymous donor, whose family foundation provided additional materials and AlphaSmarts to the resource department in 2007. In addition, the school would like to recognize the Castle Hills Education Foundation, which designated $9,000 toward additional technology training for our Prince of Peace teachers this year. The annual golf tournament is coordinated through the development office with the assistance of many parent volunteers. Proceeds from the golf tournament benefit the school's endowment fund. If you would like to volunteer to work on the tournament in 2008, please contact the development office. The school's annual GrandFriends' Day was held on May 11, 2007 with a record-breaking crowd of more than 350. This is a wonderful time for grandparents, family friends and neighbors to visit our students and enjoy a special morning of activities. Please ask your "special guests" to mark their calendars for May 9, 2008-- our next GrandFriends' Day. Click on any of the red links at the top of the page for additional information on the school's development efforts; or you may contact the development office directly: Julie Ayres, Development Director @ ext. 274 or email: jayres@popplano.org
